Positive Impact of Basketball on Youth

Image
We all know basketball is a common sport, and, no matter where in the world you live, it is widely played by children of almost all ages. But basketball can be seen as more than just a game; it has more of an impact on our youth than you may think. Whether being played just for fun and the neighborhood park, or in a more competitive environment, basketball can teach many valuable lessons and traits to youth.  So, what are the ways basketball can impact children today? Well, there's many answers to this question. Basketball teaches children the importance of teamwork and how to work together with peers, it helps them develop social skills, teaches them how to be leaders, helps them develop strong work ethics, teaches them the importance of loss, and much more. BEING ON A TEAM In my opinion, the most valuable part of basketball for children is the fact that it is a team sport. Being so, it helps children develop the ability to be a team player and work in a group. As children play to

The GOAT Debate

GOAT? For those of you who don't know what I mean when I say goat. No, I'm not talking about the animal with horns that walks around eating grass. And no, not the shoe website either for those of you sneakerheads. G.O.A.T. is an acronym often used when talking about sports that stands for Greatest Of All Time. However, other less common answers you may hear could be Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlin and a couple others.  While there will never be one clear, concise result to this goat debate, I am here to give my opinions on who I think the goat is. I believe the true goat debate is between the two most common picks. So, the question is: Jordan or Lebron?

My name is Braden Collins, you probably already know this as you are reading my blog. As a kid, my parents were always trying to get me into a sport. It started with baseball. That was a no. Then they got me to try soccer. Strike two. Then, around 2nd grade, I decided to give basketball a try. Originally, I was just playing for my church's rec league. And, for those of you who have never experienced that, it's essentially just a bunch of little kids running around chasing a ball that is bigger than their heads (as you can see in this wonderful photo of myself at this age).  Forgive me for the awful quality but you get my point. Back to the point though, I knew right away though that basketball was the sport for me, but what I didn't realize at the time was how such a simple game would go
